Guri
Amir Mausoleum: In Persian, it means the grave of Amir Timur. Tamerlane, two sons, and two grandsons, including Ulughbek lie beneath this beautiful Azure blue Dome, gem of Central Asia. Timur had originally built a simple crypt for himself at Shahrisabz and actually built this one in 1404 for his family. When he died unexpectedly from pneumonia in the winter of 1405, the road to Shahrisabz was snowed in and he was buried in Samarkand instead. |
